Mud Factor was created in 2011 in response to the countless “tough guy” challenges that were gaining popularity in the United States. We set out to establish a "Seriously Fun!" 5K mud & obstacle run that would be more entry level and less intimidating for people new to running and "OCR". At the same time, we wanted to offer a full sized mud run experience for kids and their parents so that they could take on the challenge together as a family.  

1,100 participants attended the first Mud Factor SOCAL event at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA in the spring of 2012. That number grew to over 6000 participants attending Mud Factor's return to Glen Helen Raceway in the Fall for SoCal II, the final event of the season.

2024 marks our 13th season, and the nationwide tour continues to return to the majority of our event locations annually.  We also add a handful of new venues periodically, mostly to meet new people and keep the tour interesting for our Crüe. We hope to see you at an event in your community soon!
